Upcoming Changes for Fiscal Year 2019 Award Submissions!

For the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019, the Division of Biological Infrastructure (DBI) will align its core infrastructure programs in the Research Resources Cluster with the rest of the Biological Sciences (BIO) directorate and shift to a no-deadline system. Please be advised that in FY 2018 all programs in DBI will follow their current solicitation deadlines.

The changes will affect the following programs under the Research Resources Cluster:

  1. Advances in Biological Infrastructure (ABI)
  2. Collections in Support of Biological Research (CSBR)
  3. Improvements in Facilities, Communications, and Equipment at Biological Field Stations and Marine Laboratories (FSML)

Advancing Digitization of Biodiversity Collections (ADBC) and programs in the Human Resources Cluster will continue to be managed with deadlines – please contact your program officer if you have questions.

What is the No-Deadline System?

Under the “no-deadline” system, a proposal can be submitted through-out the year. Principal Investigators (PIs) will have the opportunity to write proposals that are well-developed, and competitive with more flexibility in time.

What’s next?

The Division of Biological Infrastructure will provide more details through a variety of mechanisms soon. Researchers interested in submitting proposals that are different than DBI’s core infrastructure programs, can refer to the DCL and guidance from the Biological Sciences Directorate for more information.
